According to historians, a first Romanesque church dedicated to Saint Andrew was built in the 11th or 12th century on this panoramic hilltop where the castle of Barilone also stood. Of that church (as well as of the castle) there is no trace because it was demolished in 1600 to make way for the current one. At the time, however, it was considered uncomfortable by the population of Cisore because of its decentralized position with respect to the village. For the same reason it is very difficult to find it open and visit it.
