The church is very old, dates back to 1144 and the history of its origins is not very clear. It was located in the medieval area of the city, right next to the Abbey of San Colombano on which it has always depended. At the end of the 13th century it was entrusted to a brotherhood of lay people called dei Battuti (or Disciplinati), which always depended on the monks of the Order of San Colombano, and which dedicated itself to assisting the sick in particular.

Built in the thirteenth century, it was located until 1950 within the walls of the Abbey of Bobbio, in front of the garden (the current Piazza S.Fara ...). It was managed by the brotherhood of the "Battuti", dedicated to the care of the sick. Currently, it has an interior with no particular merits and its shape is a bit anonymous .... Perhaps the only thing that intrigues is the mysterious plaque (known as "Segnorino") walled up on the facade of Piazza S.Fara, probably of a Templar knight.

The church of San Lorenzo, is a non-parish ecclesiastical building, dependent on the parish of San Colombano. It rises, as for the other churches, in the center of the urban fabric of the town, which was formed little by little around the vast area between the abbey of San Colombano and the Piazza del Duomo, in fact the facade opens next to Piazza S.Fara behind the monastery of San Colombano and near the Castellaro district. The first documents attesting the existence of the building date back to 1144, they attest the consecration to the cult always to San Lorenzo, but it is not possible to determine the period of the first foundation from them. It is known for sure that the church has always depended on the Abbey of San Colombano, being in the walls of the monastery until 1950 when the current square dedicated to Santa Fara was created. dei Battuti (or Disciplinati), which always depended on the monks of the Order of San Colombano, and who dedicated himself to the assistance in particular of the sick, In 1803 under the Napoleonic empire the brotherhood was dissolved, as happened for the other numerous orders religious citizens, the buildings were confiscated and only later the building was re-used for worship.

It rises, as for the other churches, in the center of the urban fabric of the town, which formed little by little around the vast area between the abbey of San Colombano and the Piazza del Duomo: it is the medieval village called "intrinsic village", today's historic center, which retained the original name of "Bobium". In fact, the façade opens next to Piazza S.Fara behind the monastic monastery of San Colombano and near the Castellaro district.

Small church in the square. The exterior walls are made of stone that attracts a lot of attention. The interior very simple.
