Beautiful.

The church of Santa Lucia is located in the historic center of Parma. The construction dates back to the late 1600s. The facade is one of the best examples of Parma Baroque in the city. The interior has a single nave, with a longitudinal plan, in Baroque style. The characteristics that make this church unique are: - the dome frescoed by Baratta; - the fact that it is small and contains a unique artistic heritage; - the frescoes in the central nave. Absolutely to visit. Free admission. Hours: 7: 00-19: 00.

Wandering through the center of Parma, I came across this little church. Actually, I had not noticed: drew my attention to a sign placed in front of the entrance, reminiscent of the mass of 21:15. Lately find a tune that hour is a little miracle and I participated willingly. The interior of the church is beautiful. Even with little space available, it contains some paintings, an organ, frescos that rival those of the Cathedral. Do not miss to visit it!

Small but beautiful, baroque church with delightfully frescoed ceiling and school (by Filippo Maria Galletti from Teatino) but it is not the only remarkable work to be observed

The church of Santa Lucia does not enjoy the attention or care of its neighbor, the church of the Madonna della Steccata. It was reopened in September 2017. The building was built at the end of the seventeenth century on a project by Mauro Oddi (1639-1702). The interior - with a single nave - has the vault divided into three bays, frescoed by Alessandro Baratta (1637-1714) with angels, Saint Lucia in glory and allegories of virtues. In the dome, Baratta himself represented the Virgin Mary above the crescent moon surrounded by some saints. Above the high altar there is the beautiful viaticum of Saint Lucia by Sebastiano Ricci (1659-1734). In the chapels there are works by Antonio Lagorio (XVII century), by Francesco Monti known as il Brescianino (1646-1712) and by Luigi Amidano (1591-1630). This small casket of art is also a silent and welcoming place for prayer and meditation. The Church of Santa Lucia, owned by the Venerable Consortium of the Living and the Dead of the Cathedral Basilica of Parma, is run by a consortium, Don Mauro Pongolini, who employs a group of collaborators: don Andrea Avanzini for confessions, teacher Rita Quarets of the Suisse Luigine di Parma for the animation of the liturgical celebrations and the rounds of Eucharistic adoration, William Villabon for the custody during the opening hours and some volunteers for the reception and the answer to the questions of those who are also interested in the historical aspects. of the sacred building. Opening The church is open from September to June, from Monday to Saturday, from 7 to 19 (with the exception of Thursday when the closure is postponed to 22). closing The sacred building is closed during the months of July (with opening only for Sunday Mass at 9.15 pm) and August. This beautiful church perhaps needs a restoration, the frescoes are dark, sometimes cracked. It can be seen by day, where sunlight filters, but it is generally not very bright. The benches show clear signs of the lodging of woodworms and termites.
