Chiesa di Sant'Alessandro

Sparse exterior, and eclipsed by the much more famous opposite Steccata, it has an interior with very theatrical and interesting frescoes. It needs some restoration, but it was still a great find.

A small church facing the large cathedral Sanctuary of Santa Maria della Steccata, which sets it apart with its size. Inconspicuous on the outside, it is very interesting on the inside. Richly decorated with frescoes, which currently need a little cosmetic restoration.

The church of Sant'Alessandro is located in the center of Parma. Unfortunately, I can't give you more than a little star because it was found closed on 28 and 29 December.

The Church of S. Alessandro was originally built by the will of Queen Cunegonda, widow of Bernard king of Italy (813-818). In the early 1500s the church, which was part of an important female monastery, was rebuilt.
