San Giuseppe, Parma

The church of San Giuseppe is located in Parma across the river. The facade is of a beautiful bordeaux red color, in a classic style with baroque accents. Unfortunately I can't give him more than a little star because it is found closed.

San Giuseppe is one of the symbolic churches of the #Oltretorrente neighborhood in #Parma: made of red bricks interrupted by sandstone and white marble elements that give the sacred building great solemnity and majesty. The church of San Giuseppe was built on the ruins of an ancient oratory between 1629-34 on a project modified by Gerolamo Rainaldi. The current facade, however, was placed in 1782 based on a design by Antonio Brianti, who was inspired by the Madonna di Saronno by Tibaldi. The interior has a single nave with barrel and sail vaults, with three chapels on each side. In the first on the right is a Santa Cecilia by Paolo Ferrari. In the third St. John the Baptist with the saints Francesco di Sales, Nicolò, Luigi Gonzaga and Giovanni della Croce, painted by Peroni in 1765. At the bottom of the apse, in the center of a perspective painting, there is a niche with an altarpiece designed by Carlo Baratti in which the sculptural group of the Holy Family is inserted, made of terracotta and papier mache by Giuseppe Sbravati. In the presbytery there is a lectern from the end of the 18th century and a beautiful gilded wooden candle holder with the symbol of the four evangelists by Gaetano Callani.
