The neighborhood Santa Maria church is located in the center of Parma. The structure dates back to the early 1600s. The building is mannerist, imposing. The interior is hexagonal, with a single nave, in the mannerist style. The characteristics that make this church unique are: - the dome frescoed by P. A. Bernabei; - the side chapels always frescoed; - the vault of the presbytery. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday it is used for Orthodox worship. Visit highly recommended. Free admission.

The church owes its name to the fact that it was built near the military camp. It has a hexagonal base, although the Council of Trent had prescribed Latin cross churches and is adorned with a splendid dome which, although the work of minor artists, Pier Antonio Bernabei and disciples, makes a really good impression. It is currently also used by the Orthodox community

Little gem. Central plant with hexagonal base. The dome is executed by Pier Antonio Bernabei and his students, who even though they are minor artists compared to Correggio or Parmigianino, they make a small Baroque masterpiece.
