Chiesa dei Santi Giacomo e Anna

The community of Pianaccio repeatedly asked, starting from 1724, the construction of an oratory that would save them the ascent to the mother church. And they obtained a building permit from the bishop. So starting from 1736 they built a large oratory dedicating it to the saints James and Anna. The building was completed in 1738. The church of Pianaccio stands in the center of the village and overlooks a paved square. The classroom is flanked by the volumes of the bell tower and the sacristy and vertically aggregated to a room once used as a school. The interior, a Latin cross, has a nave divided into two spans like the arms of the transept, divided longitudinally; once a cross-vault characterizes the crossing of the arms. The quadrangular presbytery is paved in marble and turned to a false dome; it is closed by a polygonal apse.
