Adriana De Caro (01/16/2020)
Inaugurated in November 1956, with the name of the People's Library, shortly after the definitive return of Trieste to Italy, with the task of spreading the love of reading to all social classes. In 1978 the Institute became part of the State Public Libraries of the Ministry for Cultural and Environmental Heritage with the name of the State People's Library. This change brought about a change in the aims of the institute and now, although the Library is of a general nature, the collections are mainly addressed to humanities and can only be consulted on site. Located in a beautiful neoclassical building, it offers quiet rooms suitable for study, which is why there are many university students there. Various exhibitions and initiatives come to life throughout the year. During this period an exhibition on Gillo Dorfles can be visited until 31 January 2020.
Federico Strani (08/29/2018)
Historical library of wide Papa Giovanni, very quiet and silent, unlike other similar public places, which makes it a destination for many university students. Equipped with large separate tables and with personal lamp and power outlets, very well stocked with university volumes and also quite sought after books. Flexible in schedules. Also open during periods of the year when most of the others keep closed. Accessible for those in possession of the library card of Trieste.
