Nice place, so many books. Great selection of hard and paperbacks. Great selection of notebooks. The employees just left me to browse maybe because they didn't want to bother or they thought I didn't speak Italian. They have a small English section if you need it. Will go back again when I have more space in my suitcase for books
la Feltrinelli International, great place to find books in English, and other European languages, also has a good stock of books for learning / teaching languages. I would definitely recommend this shop
So, here is the thing. I am really a friendly person, giving everybody the benefit of the doubt. And rather not review if I don't have something positive to say. But the way I was treated in this bookshop was so rude that I can't help myself but warn my fellow book lovers, because I have been treated like the most annoying person on this world without having done anything wrong. My story? And my mistake? Entering an INTERNATIONAL bookstore, believing they sell Italian books TOO (and not only books in foreign languages). So I enter the bookshop, since I know exactly what I need, I proceed to the counter. The bookseller just says good bye to the previous customer, it's my turn. I ask for "The Hobbit", he gives me a look, rushes in front of me through the door into the next room, grabs the book and hands it to me, as if saying "take it and leave". I realize, oh, it's in English... so I say, "Oh, I'm sorry, I wanted it in Italian, do you have it in Italian, too?" He doesn't even look at me, says: "Other bookshop", rushes past me into the previous room to a bookshelf and grabs a book. I'm completely puzzled. Other bookshop? What other bookshop? SOME other bookshop? Or does he mean "other department"? So I follow him. You must know, I was a bookseller myself, so back then, when I served a client and I realized, oh there was a book misplaced, I just put it on the right spot, before handing the customer the correct book. Nothing wrong with that. But after 5 more books placing from A to B, I realized, no. He has actually officially turned his back on me, I didn't exist any more. I left. Very disappointed. I would still not complain, but the thing is, I had two friends with me, two Romans, who entered the bookshop just after me so he didn't realize, they belonged to me. Obviously they speak Italian... So on the way back where I followed him to the previous room, they just passed him. He made a very annoyed sigh and said quite audible to them "Che nervi", which translates to "How very annoying!". And this is just a NO, NO, NO!!!! I know this bookshop doesn't rely on returning customers, because there are enough foreign Idiots who buy their one book on holiday anyway. But those two Romans will never ever shop here again as well. Again, I was friendly, polite, my mistake was only to ask for an Italian book in an international bookshop. I haven't deserved this treatment. And even if. DO NOT CALL YOUR CUSTOMERS NAMES IN FRONT OF OTHER CUSTOMERS!!!! I got my book today. In a different bookshop and not even part of the chain. The service was excellent and super friendly even though the bookshop was busier than the other. Shame on you!
Very good selection of international books and courteous and professional service. I wish they would give better discounts to their cardholders
For foreigners, not easy to find what you want. I just looked around here by my guess. I wanted to find some books related to knit and crochet in Italian. I couldn’t find any direction marks in the shop so I asked to staff to find. Fortunately, the staff is very kind and I could find the books. But I think Italian doesn’t have any interest in these part. So few books are displayed and very old.
