Renova Spa

Returned after 9 years still a good hotel but nowhere near the standard it used to be. Mould on the inside of the curtains to the balcony. Spoke to one guest whose room was full of fleas. It used to have chandeliers in the main lobby and tropical flower arrangements, but that’s all gone now ceiling lights and a few mother in laws tongues and a few plastic plants. So looks like any European hotel, the only thing that says Jamaica are the staff. The food is still good and anyone should find something to suit. The main pool just used to be for the swim up bar and relaxing but now they take space up with aerobics and water polo, shame. The first week we had a group of very rowdy Americans, so bad that one pool had to be shut down, emptied and cleaned I’ll leave it to imagination what they had been doing in it. Apparently the cleaners told us they did the same sort of things in the showers (disgusting) The second week had a group of Indians and their children who took over the swim up pool. The children were all very young and needed swim aids and rings, which would have been fine I like to see little ones enjoying themselves, but this pool is where the adults come for drinks and sitting in the jacuzzi. There is a pool for little ones so why were they not asked to use it, maybe I’m being harsh if so I’m sorry, but most people left the pool to go elsewhere. It seems like all the little things that made it special are gone such a shame, we certainly will not be going back. It had taken a couple of years to save up for so very disappointed.

The riu hotel is nice the only downfall for me are the food. They don't cater for people who are vegan or vegetarian. You have to select your own food from buffet. People with hypertension, gall bladder or IBS issues will have to seriously consider making arrangements with staff and chef before coming here. Also patties/cookie biscuits are not made on the premises and when I asked member of staff what made up the patties no one knew, I was told 'they were bought from a company' this was not good for me as I have allergies to almonds, sunflower seeds/oils... Apart from this everything else is good. I gave 3 star fuel to the food issues.

The best massage I ever had

Great place to spend your vacation. The food is great and friendly staff. I'll give their entertainment at nights a thumbs up.
