This great house is located close to Clarks Town in Trelawny, close to the Long Pond factory. The parish once had over 100 sugar estates and more than 40 factories producing sugar. While it no longer has the glory it once boasted, Hyde Hall Great House is a beautiful reminder of our history. The stone inscription indicates that it was built in 1820. There is also what appears to be the base of a windmill on the property. One of the farmers we found sheltering from the blazing sun told us it was a part of the Long Pond Sugar Estate. I hope that this building will be restored for the next generation to see.
