St. Ann's Bay Hospital

The hospital is a place for the sick, just like the church is for the broken hearted, but sometimes you go to the hospital and you really wish you didnt have to. I visited the hospital last week and to my surprise the place was not full, now one would think that the level of service and hospitality would increase since its not busy, no one was behaving angrily or rude. Everyone seemed civilized and calm, they acted better than one would expect. BUT....... While the service that i recieved on the day that i visted was fast, my experience was changed for the worst when a hospital staff shouted at my husband and for what? So, i was accompanied to the inside, registered and all. We waited for my name inorder to do the preliminary in a small room. That was quick as well. My husband is a fellow civil servant, he tends to be professional and conducts himself morally and ethically. This was also his first time to a hospital outside of his parish so he really didnt know the process. He proceeded to ask questions and seek direction before he proceeded into a room with me. Upon entering he was told to leave which he did. At first he tried to explain why he had accompanied me inside but he was told no, he had to leave and so he did. Then he went outside of the room, i thought all was well at this point, there was just a slight misunderstanding but no, i , heard some shouting on the outside and wondered who was causing trouble. I didnt know it was my husband because i didnt hear a response, I only later found out that the shouting i heard earlier was geared towards him. Insulting him and so on. He never answered because i was in a vulnerable situation and he didnt want them to turn me away because he answered, so he didnt but he was so embarrassed. Notwithstanding the experience , I am better because i was attended to quickly. But I am a true believer in treating others the way you want to be treated, and not because you work at a hospital means you have immunity to death and sickness. Thank you however to the doctor who was patient with me, Security Guard who was at the access point into the administration area and the porter who was so patient with me. Keep doing your job well. For those persons who work at the hospital and are mean and inconsiderate of others, it would be nice to take start viewing your role and function as stewardship to others. You have the power to impact lives. Kind words and deeds go a far way. Be nice!!

The St. Anne's bay hospital does not even deserve 1 star. Was there today with acute pain at the side and abdomen. The only procedure that was done was only a pregnancy test. I requested for an X-ray, the doctor 53007 told me that the hospital was only for emergency case and that I would have to go to do a health care center where they would advise me where to go to do the X-ray. (Private of course). I waste 3 hours there for nothing, not even pain killers. If these health workers' salary is funded by public money, then why am I not entitle to do an X-ray at the hospital?

Horrible Facility. I will not recommend anyone who needs critical care to seek go there. My Uncle was in the neighborhood and seek medical attention which didn’t go well. He was admitted to during is four day hospitalization he got use the restroom and showered on the fifth day he dead. If the health care workers had to the appropriate test he would have been with us today. Statistics say if an individual serves 72 hours with a heart attack they would be fine and live . After all this ordeal it didn’t end there. Request a copy of the medical records and the death certificate. Showed only to hear the check the wrong space on the death certificate (how convenient) . Long story short. I will not rest until I get some answers. No one deserves to die this . Dr Davis Dr Stranger and Nurse Davis and whoever else that was on the team but give me an answer. FYI : Not even the land line phone works on the unit to speak with any of staff . I had to communicate with them on family members phone.

Bad Hygiene. The nurses and doctors especially the nurses are really nice. Great service though. BUT CARRY A SWEATER THEY HAVE AC IN THERE SO IN THERE IS VERY COLD
