This is a historical site for Jamaica and particularly for Spanish Town, located in St. Catherine. Rodney's Memorial was erected in honour of the British Admiral Lord Rodney in 1801. It was created by the famed British sculptor John Bacon. It commemorates Lord Rodney's victory over a French fleet which tried to invade the Island in 1782. It is a part of Emancipation Square in Spanish Town and is surrounded by other historically important buildings such as the front wall and steps of the former Kings House from which steps the Emancipation Proclamation was read in 1838. Emancipation Square is also the home of the Old House of Assembly and the Old Court House. The latter was destroyed by fire in 1836.

This place is still under construction but the concept is very good and is opened at times where the guide share s little of Spanish Town history.
