YES. I would go back to Jamaica and Dreamin Villa!
Before the actual vacation- the owner contacted me and ask for our needs. He walked us through a list of things we needed/ where to exchange our money/ do's and don't/ places to see/local artisans around the area to shop/ Activities etc... Ask about the VIP meet and greet service, they will meet you at the gate when the plane lands. It's extra but totally worth it.
House- it is set up like a hotel/home. They had luggage racks, hotel quality mini toiletries-even makeup remover. AC in all the bedrooms. WIFI- Better than my Cox at home. We were all streaming movies at the same time, even on the roof/terrace it works. Unless you pay for roaming, remember to turn off your cellular data and use the free wifi. Owner suggested we use Whatsapp to make international calls. There's board games, books, even floaties, boogie boards and beach towels are for guests to use free of charge . Full size kitchen. Little beverage fridge on the Deck/patio. We requested to have our meals served at the outside dining area-like our background music, is literally the ocean. My husband and stayed in- what I call the sun room- it's bright and airy. Bed was super comfortable!
The Villa practically beach front. I hate walking. When I saw the pictures online-I saw the road then the clubhouse and the beach. I was like cool, not a long walk. Omg, it's shorter than my walk to the mailbox (i live in a cul-de-sac back home)
BTW, Our fav feature at the house is the outside shower!
STAFF-Ms. Claudette and sometimes other staff. SUPER sweet and very accommodating. She comes in to clean, wash clothes if needed and cooks 2 meals, your choice. She is on hand everyday from 10-5, i think. Because they mostly use farm fresh ingredients-Like there are vegetable and fish vendors that sells their produce door to door. Of course, you don't have to deal with them directly. I believe you can use a credit card or cash for guest accounts-groceries etc. Discuss with owner. Ask for Jamaican menu, it is soooo good! I havent eaten so well while on vacation. She, also, cooks American food. FYI, I fell in love with Ackee and saltfish. Ask for avocados, papayas, mangoes if it's in season, all their produce have a deeper flavor profile. Might just be me, but it's worth a try. There is a grocery store that delivers to silversands. They carry everything even sensodyne. For a nominal fee, like really inexpensive.
Silver Sands beach/community- beautiful, and peaceful. It's got an historic vibe, as the Queen yes HRH spent a summer there with her family. The clubhouse has an old timey feel, vintage changing rooms/ showers. There is a small bar. Prices are reasonable. While we were there, we had to share the beach with 2 lifeguards, 2 bartenders, 1 couple and the guy who sweeps the beach. Water is clear. Bring a snorkel. If you're lucky, you'll see Mr. Shine-local guy on a surfboard who sells seashells and other ocean finds to guests at Silversands. Quite a character, he might just be a merman pretending to be human. He spends so much time in the ocean, he has barnacles growing on his diving flippers. Ask him for stories. He's got one about being bitten by a shark.
Silver Sands community is gated. Security guards everywhere, at the gate, roaming around the community 24/7. Staff at the houses and Vendors have badges.
As far as exploring, most Jamaicans are protective of their tourists. A couple of times, locals have scolded panhandlers for approaching me. If you're respectful to the locals and mindful of your surroundings, you'll be fine.
BTW, visit Herbie's for fresh seafood. Yum.
If I can I want to summer in Jamaica every year, because of the kindness of the Jamaicans and of course, because of the Villa. The owner really made it a home for travelers, like me, who just want to wake up, swim in the ocean, hang out, ocassionally wander around where the locals hang. Even if you want to party, stay here and hire a car to go to Montego. Trust me, you're going to need peace and quiet of Dreamin Villa.
