The inclusive community felt like a family for my daughter. It challenged her to think more creatively and provided a wide range of opportunities for growth: sport, performing arts, & service. Our time there is and will always be cherished.

What a positive environment and experience! The campus and faculty is trully invested in the growth and development of students. The curriculum incorporates cutting edge technology and a close, almost family support system in ways that ensure students are able to thrive in the current and future world.

I remember when my son was in grade 4 at another school he began to change. He'd always been such an inquisitive, happy, active child, and my husband and I watched in distress as he began to become sullen and withdrawn. His grades began to plummet, which confused us as he was such a bright child. We decided to move him to a school with a smaller number of students in the class, hoping the closer attention of a teacher would help to improve his academic performance. AISK was one of the schools that kept coming up in our research of options. Upon enrolling our son at AISK and meeting his teacher, we explained the difference in his behavior and the issue with his grades. Her first words to us were, "What does he like to do?" We told her he loved to create, to build, especially with Lego. She told us that she requested just one thing from us - to forget about grades for a while. She explained that a child's self esteem, his belief in himself and his capabilities came first and foremost, and she assured us that once this belief was unlocked, the climb in grades would follow suit. During our son's first weeks at AISK, he was asked to do very few assignments with handwriting. A lot of the topics and tasks he was given centered around building...using Lego and other material to create and relay what he'd learned during the day. Many people think I'm exaggerating when we say that we saw a difference in our son from his first week at AISK. After years of hating school, our son was awake before every else, dressed and impatient to get to school. The changes were so remarkable that we enrolled our third child immediately. I remember many days picking up my son's report card and opening it right there in the parking lot. Most times I was so emotional that I could barely drive out of the school. Just like his teacher had promised, the grades climbed and climbed. But best of all, he was a self-assured and happy young man. Our son, who would not look anyone in the eye, who was too shy to even say 'hello', graduated from AISK as President of the Student Government with his I.B. diploma intact! On a side note, after completing the I.B curriculum, our son asked to be tested. We had done several tests in his early school years, but they had mostly come back inconclusive. At 18 when he did a comprehensive test, the doctor advised us that he was indeed dyslexic, but remarkably what they saw in his results was just how amazingly he had been taught to learn in a regular school environment to circumvent his challenges. He had not been put into a resource room at AISK, never separated from the rest of his class, just taught with respect, love and care, and indeed, taught to believe first and foremost in himself and his own capabilities. That is all I could ever ask of any school.
