In past times, foreigners In the greater Tokyo area who lived and then died were buried in a special section of the public cemetery reserved non-Japanese foreign nationals. So there are foreigners buried here dating from that late 19th century until the present ( how recent I am not sure.)There are three main divisions in three main foreigners cemetery: the Muslim section, the Christian section, and the Chinese section. Each plot in each section is built in the style of that culture, and mainly one individual ( or a married couple) occupies one plot, which is different than Japanese burial practices where an entire family line from 2-200 individuals’ ashes are buried in one place.
