Serene place. Nice for a lonely walk

I once heard that this park was a place for children's excursions in and around the park, and the scenery of the Ariake Sea below was superb before the park was reclaimed. It is a famous place for cherry blossoms and azaleas, but it is a poorly maintained park with overgrown weeds and the road to the park feels dark and deserted. During the cherry blossom season, the area near the entrance of the park and the parking lot are recommended spots for cherry blossom viewing.

Kurosaki Park is located about 4.3km northwest of Nishitetsu Higashi Amagi Station, and if you go west from the Misaki intersection of the prefectural road No. 18 (Omuta River vice line), there is a park entrance, so if you climb, there is a parking lot on the top of the mountain. It is famous for azaleas and about 2,500 trees are planted in the park, and it will be full of azalea flowers around the end of April. In addition, cherry trees are also planted, and in spring, it is popular with the locals as a spot for cherry blossom viewing. The second park has an athletic field and lawn, providing a space for children to run around and play. There is an observatory ahead of Daiichi Park, and you can see the seaweed fields of the Ariake Sea, the artificial island Hatsushima Miike reclamation, the Omuta factory area below, and you can see Unzendake and Taradake when the weather is nice. In addition, there is "Kurosaki Kanzeonozuka Tumulus" discovered in 1994 in the park. It is a large front-end tumulus with a total length of 100m, built at the end of the 4th century. Since it is the largest tumulus on the front of the Ariake coast at that time, it is presumed to be the tumulus where the leader of the Ariake Sea area sleeps. The Kannon is built on the top of the mountain, giving it a mysterious atmosphere.
