This place is great if you need some comic relief

Interesting museum and beautiful shrine. Museum entrance is 1000Y, we went midday on a Saturday and it didn't seem crowded or too busy. Most of the exhibits have English translations. The exhibits go in a timeline so it was easy to follow via photographs too.

Worth a visit with an open mind Very interesting exhibits relating to Japans military history, including interesting displays of armour, weapons etc dating back to the early samurais. The WWII section gave some interesting insight into the Japanese perspective on what occurred and why.

The museum's gift shop sells regional souvenirs in addition to various books and documents concerning Yasukuni Shrine. Toy army flags and other military-related toys can also be purchased here, and English-language pamphlets are available for foreign visitors. The museum also houses a cafe where the items on the menu are created using ingredients and recipes resembling those actually used on Japanese Navy ships.
