Pretty much agree with all of the reviews here. I've never experienced earthqake by myself and it was a good demonstration how does it feel like. Interesting photos of devastations of earthquakes of the past.
Don't expect a museum in common sense. It is more like an information and training center for earthquakes and related effects. The exhibition only has a few remarks (like headlines) in English. Nevertheless, it is worth taking the whole tour of both levels as you will also see a lot of photos. You can also touch some cold lava stones and ashes. If you have the chance, you should experience the earthquake demonstration (every hour). In this safe environment, you get a clear impression of how scary and devastating the real thing must feel like. A kind Japanese guide led us through the demonstration using his mobile phone for English translations. This was the least touristy experience during my whole stay in Japan, but a great one!
Worth a visit! Super friendly and helpful personnel (they only speak a little english, but they try to help you as good as they can). The earthquake simulator is impressive, very interesting to experience. The rest of the museum isn't very big and the english information is lacking a bit, but bring Google Translate with you and you can learn a lot! Fascinating what the earth can do and how the Japanese prepare for new earthquakes.
Really instructive. The personnel tried their best to explain the matter even if they spoke little English. The earthquake simulator was a big experience
Gooooooooooooood place to know what and how Tsunami..
