This is a good place to visit if you are interested in the geological history of the Izu Peninsula. It is small but admission is free.
Absolutely incredible museum. Anyone keen to learn about the geological history of Japan, the Mt Fuji region and the Izu Peninsula should visit here. Not only does Shuzenji have a quaint town with lovely hot springs, but also a rich history formed over millions of years.
The museum is a single large room, but don’t let that put you off as it is packed full of extremely informative and interesting displays and hands on exhibits. Information throughout is both in Japanese and English, even the introduction video which was excellent.
Expect to spend a couple of hours here to take it all in, and an hour if you’re just browsing.
Enjoy this wonderful place that is also free!
It is a global UNESCO GeoPark.
good!
The commentary movie is wonderful.
It will teach you the origin of the topography of Izu in an easy-to-understand manner.
The interior is also beautiful.
There are few stone samples, too.
I recommend it.
A facility that introduces how the Izu Peninsula was created with images and exhibits. From the basement of the hall
When you enter Geolia, a staff member will guide you to a prologue short film. From that, I was surprised, the discovery was continuous!!! And all for free! Those who like Izu should definitely go.
(Those who know the origin of the peninsula)
