A small but lovely traditional garden. No entrance fee. A small cafe also has shaded seating (entrance on south street side). The garden also has free washrooms.

A messy garden behind Yojiya ✨ On July 15, 2000, the restaurant "Kyoto Sakaguchi (Reishi Sanso) was reborn as Seiryu-en. It was named Seiryu-en after the four gods "Seiryu" that govern the eastern part of Kyoto. This area is located in the north of Kiyomizu-dera Temple, and it is known that it used to be a retreat for Kinoshita Katsutoshi (Katsutoshi 1569-1649). Momoyama singer Kinoshita Katsutoshi was the nephew of Toyotomi Hideyoshi's Seishitsu Kitaseisho, and interacted with Confucian Hayashi Razan, Chajin, Kobori Enshu, and many other public houses. I learned. From the early modern period to the modern era, this area attracted a large number of sumi customers as a stage for calligraphy and tea ceremonies, and it was surrounded by a literary atmosphere from ancient times. While preserving the gardens and traditional buildings that are full of the thoughts of our predecessors, it has the function of being integrated into the present age, and Seiryuen is handed down to the next generation with many historical reasons.
