This place is a nice little get away, especially if you have kids. My son did not want to leave!

Two hours away from downtown Tokyo, the Okutama area is a green haven, quite different from the central area of tangled concrete jungle. Okutama boasts a wide range of activities for nature lovers, and the Hossawa Falls are a great spot to explore. The serene hideaway is a fifteen minute walk from the nearest bus stop, up a gentle slope. Perfect for a day trip, the walk to the waterfall takes you past a small tofu stand, a quirky café, and an old post office-turned-souvenir-shop. Parking space is limited and can become quite crowded on weekend/holidays. Where possible, travelling via public transportation is recommended. Okutama area is the city's slice of rural Japan. Its lakes and mountains attract outdoorsy types for activities ranging from kayaking and rafting to hiking.

Delightful place, it's amazing how people take care of this place. Water is cristal clear and so refreshing that you wish you have more time to stay here. There are a couple of small cafes around to enjoy soft team and relax after a 5min hiking to reach the place from the parking lot.

Nice place to visit if you're looking to escape the city. Just about 2 hours away from Tokyo. Not the most amazing waterfall but definitely beautiful and worth a visit. The only Japan top 100 waterfall that's in the Tokyo area!

Easy beginner hike. After parking your car, you want to turn right by the bathrooms. ( If you're facing the bathroom) Once you're down the hill, turn right onto the wood chip path. My 5 and 6 year old really enjoyed it. It was a good walking path.
