Minato is one of rich wards in Tokyo. As it is, this museum is very eloquent. I see many people from overseas coming here.
A facility created by renovating the building of the Public Health Institute, which was built in 1938. Visiting the inside of the building is free, and a ticket is required to enter areas such as permanent exhibitions and special exhibitions. If you follow the route of the permanent exhibition, you can see the changes in the topography of Minato Ward and the accompanying changes in industry as the times progress. As the name of "Vegetable Life", the cafe on the 1st floor has a menu with lots of vegetables.
I stopped by to kill time until the Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum opened, but there were many things to see. The highlights of this historic building are the old auditorium, the central entrance hall and the exterior (overall), especially the old auditorium, which is well preserved and luxurious in every detail, including ceilings, columns, lighting, wall and relief decorations. I am surprised that it is done. I think it is a valuable asset that is difficult to see in modern cost-oriented buildings, including the skills of craftsmen.
The building tour is free, so if you are interested in retro buildings, you may want to visit it once.
#The staff were polite and wonderful.
I came to know it on Google Maps and definitely want to visit it. Great facility. The correspondence of the staff is also wonderful. The present age lives in a historic building. It's like Europe.
Building tour is free. Admission to the Minato Ward Folk History Museum inside the building is 300 yen for a permanent exhibition. 600 yen for a special exhibition room set. Currently, an exhibition (until 2020.12.20) is being held in Minato Ward and the Imperial Family. This time I only visited the building, but I'm glad I came. We received a guide map and visited in order from the 6th floor. Shooting in the hall is OK.
The building is the former National Public Health Institute. It is a heavy Gothic building completed in 1938. Designed by Yoshikazu Uchida, the same as the University of Tokyo. I heard that it was created for the training of public health nurses and other people nationwide in order to improve public health after the Great Kanto Earthquake. Even at that time (1938), it was the latest equipment equipped with an elevator, flush toilet, and women's dormitory. It was 82 years ago. Many people think of the auditorium as a large classroom at the university they once attended.
Used until 2002. Under the jurisdiction of Minato Ward in 2009. The repair work was completed in 2018. It opened in November.
There is a history museum, library, offices, etc. on each floor, and there are also beautiful toilets, rest areas, shops, etc. The video of the tour guide is excellent. There are many materials from Minato Ward, so it is a recommended place.
Located just off Shirokanedai Station. There are various facilities in the ward in an old but solid and nice building. There are few people on weekdays, so you can spend a relaxing and comfortable time at the cafe. Guidance and guards are everywhere. The toilet has been beautifully renovated.
