Hirano Sawaike Pond consists of three ponds one next to another ( north pond, middle pond, south pond ). Those ponds are known as one of the greatest spots for birdwatching. The road next to the pond is called a road of aqua birds lined up with cherry trees of Somei Yoshino along both sides. You can enjoy birdwatching all around the year. In summer time you can see a large mass of lotus ( Euryale )blooming in one of these ponds called Lotus pond. This lotus is called Onibus オニバス in Japan. The place is known as a place where swallows sleep. It is said that more than 1000 swallows rest on leaves of lotus in the pond. The flower season starts from August. ( Trans-word+ TGM Kyoto Guide )

In spring, the "cherry blossoms" around the pond bloom, and many people come to see the cherry blossoms. From spring to summer, "lotus flowers" bloom on the surface of the pond and are very beautiful. I always pass by the loophole, but it was a place with no edge. This time, I decided to bring lunch and have lunch at Toya. There is no parking near the arbor, and there is a parking with a public toilet about 300 meters away. I was able to relax both physically and mentally in a very beautiful waterside park. Well-maintained, weeds are cut off and no trash can be seen. Although there is a bus stop, there are only 3 buses a day on Saturdays and Sundays, and I think it is practically difficult to get there by public transportation, but it is a wonderful place so please come visit us. If the timing meets, you can also see the flight of a paraglider flying from the nearby mountains.

Oh, I missed the timing. There were a few lotus flowers left... Expect again next year.
