Not to mention map enthusiasts, I like history, and I like map patterns in terms of design! I also recommend it to anyone. It takes two and a half hours to complete the tour, but you will be overwhelmed by the high density and amount of information that you can feel in a blink of an eye. The cafe space next to the entrance faces the port of Kokura, and when the weather is nice, you can see the Kanmon Bridge and Shimonoseki. You can also listen to petit commentary from the staff.
Introducing the history of maps from BC to the present day based on actual materials. Admission is 1000 yen and a drink ticket at the cafe is also included. The atmosphere is such that people in the know know it at the quiet entrance, but the volume is irresistible for geography lovers, and it is a sightseeing spot that is especially recommended in Ogura.
This is Zenrin's museum, which is taken care of by everyone living in Japan.
It is a little-known spot in the Kokura expedition that just opened in June 2008.
Old maps from Japan and abroad are collected and exhibited under the theme of maps.
Nowadays, people in the past could not accurately know the shape of Japan that everyone can imagine, and it was common for it to be written in a completely different form by imagination, with the development of observation technology and surveying technology. You can learn from the actual map that the growing interest in Japan in the West will take on the shape that everyone is familiar with over time.
The view from the rest space (cafe) of the annex is a word of superb view!
The hardships and history of our predecessors
Can be drawn from the viewpoint of "map"
It is a nice museum.
Indirectly the transition of the times and Japanese culture
A composition that tells a story.
Right now,
I can use Google Maps in this way,
History that continues from the Age of Discovery,
Thanks to improved culture and technology.
As a traveling lover,
The "map" that you usually take care of,
Thanks to this museum,
Attachment from the angle of "history" to the map
It started to spring.
An important person on the map of Japan,
I originally knew Tadataka Ino,
Before that,
It was my first time seeing Japanese here.
Because it is a time when you can not go out or go out as you think with Corona Evil,
Of a large local company that arrived
Museum.
I was able to spend precious time.
Because I traveled around the world by plane and myself
Thank you for being born in a convenient time.
I will definitely visit again.
While focusing on people who are deeply involved in the history of maps, we will introduce them in chronological order in an easy-to-understand manner. I was surprised that the map that became the shape of Japan today was made by foreigners before Tadataka Ito. At the next special exhibition hall, please focus on the history of Mr. ZENRIN.
