We poked our heads in here looking for hot sake on a cold day. Even though it was closed the owner was nice enough to serve us some sake. Very nice looking English menu!
Great little spot! The owner will make you feel right at home. Very welcoming to tourists. My wife had her Japanese change in a plastic bag and he gave her a cute cloth pouch - such a nice gesture!
We had an absolutely fantastic meal! Great tempura, and the donburi I had still makes me hungry when I think about it. It was great to have a beer and chat with the owners, and putting our names on the world map was exciting! I proudly wear my 麺道楽大 T-shirt often at home! I hope I can go back soon.
This restaurant is foreigner friendly. It has an english menu. I ordered the Tendon(fried vegetable & shrimp rice bowl) for 1330¥, which is an acceptable price, since it also had a little bowl of udon and some pickles as a side dish. The taste was good, but nothing extraordinary~
Visited today with some of my friends, and although we were a long way from home, this shop was comfortable and relaxing. The chef was super friendly and made great udon. The soup base was really tasty! The chef was kind and enjoyable to talk to. A great start to our time in Kyoto. I would definitely return for the food and the company if I ever visit Kyoto again. A pleasure to eat at!
