Great place, but visiting on roasting hot mid-august is not a great idea
A place you should visit at least once when you come to Kamakura.
The view overlooked from the temple grounds is worth a visit.

I can see why this is one of the most visited temples in a city that is filled with temples. The architecture is beautiful and it's really a complex of temples and shrines that shows a fun blend of Budhism and Shintoism.
This shrine is beautiful. It's large and has a very large complex it is located on with several other things to see and do and smaller shrines.
The approach to it from one side has a tree-lined sidewalk path that winds through a busy street with tons of shopping and eating and small lion and dragon statues.
It's very pretty, very old, and has a very real sense of calm around the whole place.
You get a beautiful view of the city from the top. Majestic.
