Beautiful park just outside of Mimata that has tons of hydrangeas and other seasonal flowers. The view at sunset is lovely.

It is a park built on the site of a former mountain castle, and a castle tower-style observatory is built on the summit. It is located in Yamanokuchi, but for some reason another name is Mimata Castle. As the name of Hydrangea Park suggests, hydrangea flowers are in full bloom around June.

A good exercise is to climb from the parking lot to the castle tower. You can train your legs according to the sign. Just be careful because it is likely to slide on rainy days. I think it is worth climbing from the castle tower to see the Kirishima Mountains. I think that the hydrangea blooming season can be enjoyed most.
