長岡市 三島郷土資料館

I visited for the first time in August 2020. It is located on the 2nd floor of Mishima Kaikan, near the Mishima branch in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture. The clean and orderly attractions of this local museum are the following five points. 1. 1. History of cutlery centered on saws, which is a traditional craft of the former Mishimacho district 2. Achievements of Shobei Nakaya, the founder of the former Mishima Town 3, The ancient life of the people of Mishima Town 4, History of summation (Japanese-style mathematics) that prevailed in the former Mishima-cho during the Edo period 5. There is a small library at the corner of Wakinomachi Station on the Nagaoka Railway (Echigo Kotsu Nagaoka Line), which was abolished in 1975. The inside of the building has a barrier-free structure with a gentle slope so that even people in wheelchairs can browse with confidence. However, the only disappointing thing was that the toilet was Japanese style, not Western style. It's a pity that it was kept clean. I don't think Nagaoka City is financially easy either, but I would like public facilities in the 21st century to be based on the installation of Western-style toilets.
