I’ve been fortunate to stay in a lot of nice hotels around Japan but this one was absolutely the best and the most unique I’ve stayed in yet. The staff are so personable and kind, the amenities were incredible, and the drinks - the drinks! They’re not lying when they say this is an adult’s retreat. There was more than plenty of snacks in the room and in the lounge, free flowing drinks all evening long. The bartenders knew the perfect drinks to make without me having to pick from the menu (majority of drinks included in the stay price!). My favorite part was the private bath. When I walked in, there was already a bottle of champagne waiting for me. The view of the illuminated forest was beautiful from the window. I put some music on and enjoyed my time there. The hotel is well thought out, from the interior to the music. I loved every moment of this forest escape and cannot wait to go back again!

Bar Hotel Hakone is truly a hidden gem. It just opened 18 months ago and offers a fantastic retreat in the heart of Hakone. The interior is breathtaking, it will be very hard to leave this hotel. Service feels bespoke to your needs. The huge selection of drinks and cuisine will allow you to enjoy every minute.

We opted for the all-inclusive plan, which allowed us a huge options of drinks at the bar included in the price, along with 90 minutes in the beautiful private bath (complete with sparking sake). I cannot say enough about the service. My partner and I hiked from Hakone Yumoto to Kowakien (about 11km, lovely if steep trail) and got to the hotel an hour early. Usually Japanese hotels turn you away if you arrive before check in time, but they kindly allowed us to do the formalities while sipping a glass of champagne, and then let us relax in the lounge (fully stocked with more drinks and snacks) until our room was ready. We were quite tired after the climb, and this was very much appreciated. They don't really do dinner (although the breakfast was fantastic), but they have bar snacks (paid separately) to go with the huge range of drinks on offer. Whiskey fans would go crazy for this place, there were so many varieties included in the free-flow drink plan, and we really enjoyed trying the cocktails and wine selection. And the room... the view of the mountains from the giant sofa was so beautiful. We spent several hours just chilling and looking out the window. The late check out time (2:00pm) is great. Highly recommend for a quiet, romantic getaway.

This place was amazing. Coming from New York City where life often revolves around work, stress, and logistical challenges, I was looking for a place to mentally reset and refresh. This place was heaven on earth, with every detail and relaxation method carefully planned out and executed perfectly. The staff and hospitality here is truly first class. Highly recommended!

Me and my girlfriend were stuck and lost at the highway near their hotel. Yurika-san and Yuri-san were so very kind in helping us get back home to our hotel. We will stay at the Bar Hotel the next time we visit Hakone and we will recommend that all our friends stay here too! :) Honto ni arigatou gozaimasu!
