Tokushima Castle Museum

Great place learn the history of Tokushima Castle. Museum also has a nice Japanese garden, free entry to Museum visitors

As most of the castle has been destroyed, the museum stands in its place. There are plenty of artifacts inside and seeing as all of the labels are in Japanese, non Japanese speakers need to rely on the guide book. The surrounding gardens are serene and stunning, the highlight of our visit. Only 50 Yen too!

I thought that there were many books on display, but the Tokushima clan whale ship "Senyama Maru" was spectacular. Originally for whaling, it is a daimyo ship that was also used to command and contact something. The garden inside the museum is also beautiful.

I visited to see the special exhibition, Yang Metal Rat. I understood a little about the history of Tokushima, which started from the Hachisuka family and separated from Awaji Island. When I was looking at the exhibits, the staff and volunteers enthusiastically explained to the customers. When I listened to it by my side, I learned about the positions of the Inada and Hachisuka families, which I couldn't understand from the exhibits alone.
