Amazing place to visit while in Kyoto. It's cheap and a great trip uphill to see the monkeys. The monkeys are free to go where they want, so it's not a zoo or anything, it's their hill so they are the bosses! They walk around you, it's so cool! Also it's near the famous bamboo forest and all the tourist spot aroud so

Beautiful park with loads of Macaques! It's an easy walk for those who are used to walking up slopes but to most it's a moderate walk. I thoroughly enjoyed the quizzes about macaques on the way up and down. There's a public restroom at the bottom next to the ticket office as well as a seating area. Another seating area is located roughly half way up the walk. When you reach the top there's a small park for children and heaps of areas to sit and either watch the macaques or look at the view of Kyoto. There's also an indoor caged area for people to go inside and have close up interactions with the macaques. Staff can be seen feeding the macaques at times but visitors cannot feed them. They are curious animals who mostly fight/sleep/groom and are very accustomed to people visiting.

Easily my favorite part of Kyoto. For less than 600 yen a person, you get to see monkeys up close, feed them, and you get a great view of the city from the top. Be prepared for a little hike. It is so worth it. At the top, there is an ACed room where you can rest if you need a place to cool off. I would definitely recommend coming here if you are going to visit the bamboo forest. The monkeys are just so cute.

Pretty nice tourist attraction. Feeding the monkeys was pretty fun experience. Awesome place to visit if you don't mind a little 20 or so minute hike. Price was also pretty decent.

An animal sanctuary worth supporting. Screw going to zoos. To to see some wild roaming monkeys!
