I haven't been living in Japan for more than a couple weeks, so getting around and communicating has been a little tricky. Fortunately, I found this bicycle shop and not only were we able to communicate in English, but they were above and beyond helpful. They were more concerned about me knowing the pros and cons of the bike I wanted, over the sale itself. That made me all the more appreciative of their service. Shimamura Cycle, ありがとうございます！

They are making money, somehow, but you wouldn't know it by how they treat people. They are all about service, no question. They're polite, but unlike most Japanese businesses, they're there to help you get back on your bike and on your way. They make suggestions and talk to you like a friend would, if your friend were a bike expert. So, they make money, somehow, but it just seems like the last thing on their minds. The worst thing is I have to give 5 stars.... I don't like giving 5 stars! But, that's just how it is.

Long established bike shop run by the popular, charismatic and congenial Mr. Shimamura, a local veteran who speaks pretty good English, assisted by his charming wife and helpful staff. He does his repairs right at street level shop front to stay accessible and connected with the community. Affordable, good value pricing on purchases and repairs. Upstairs showroom is worth a visit to view some of his collector's items and good range selection of bicycles, parts and accessories. Rentals were stopped a few years ago due to too many hassles and liabilities, but might still be possible in some cases...just ask, they need to be sure you're an experienced cyclist...you might get lucky.

Reliable bicycle shop in town The skill of the professional craftsman is wonderful It is a very good shop that offers kindness and after-sales service.
