Superb range of beers all from Tamamura Honten (Shiga Kogen) brewery which is just down the hill. As well as being probably the best beer in Japan, it's also very cheap for craft beer. The staff are very knowledgeable about beer and many speak excellent English. I did not eat there so my rating is solely on the beer and bar service.

This place was one of my favourites in Yudanaka. Their craft beers were a refreshing change from my usual asahi pint. The atmosphere is so chilled and the workers are always down for a chat despite my Japanese not being the best. Their merch is pretty cool too if that's your thing. A must do in this area if you're after a good beer!

Food was very mediocre and service was bad. No vegetarian options too. Beer is obviously very good and cheap too (for 志賀高原)

After monkey watching... We were pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. Limited lunch menu (dinner menu looked delicious).... Delicious food and a wide selection of local crafted beers. We were kept nice and warm with gas heaters. The waitress spoke adequate English and was very helpful. Food was tasty with no frills. The price was very reasonable too which was a pleasant surprise considering there were limited restaurants in this tourist spot. Highly recommended!!
