Opened in 1926 (Taisho 15) as Hoshikawa Station of the Jinchu Railway. In 1933, the two stations were changed to Kami-Hoshikawa Station at the same time that Kita-Dogaya Station, near Yokohama Station, was renamed Hoshikawa Station.
