Enters Karatsu City, crossing the prefectural border between Shikaya and Hamasaki. There are quite a few trains running at the express station on weekday mornings, though they are single lines. The station is being renovated and a bridge station with a free passageway will be built. The 103 series trains are still working hard.

There seems to be a plan to rebuild a new station building, but I think it would be better for tourists to enjoy the old station building and regenerate it.

It is very lively, and there is a period in the station where local calligraphy is stuck. There is a mini-store at the station where you can do some shopping. On the street in front of the station, there are shrines and keran shops with Hamasaki-kunchi (?), Making it convenient for sightseeing. Niji no Matsubara is also near the sea.
