One of the best nights out of my life

Had a great time when I went; people there were nice even though I barely speak Japanese. Try not to be a creep like I saw some other foreigner being...

If you like Anime Song this is your place. They also have some non-anime parties.

I’ve been coming here consecutively for five years and I’ve sadly watched this place translation from one of the world’s greatest & only nerdy video game & anime otaku hangout clubs, into a generic Tokyo ripoff “super for-profit” night club. I’m devastated to write this: please don’t come here. I believe there was a change of ownership at some point (might be wrong on this). The massive increase in entry fee should have tipped me off. The fan-placed stickers that littered the stage in the basement were completely removed, so much history completely gone. The flavor and character this place once had has been stripped away, intentionally. The competency of the bartenders reached a new low, receiving wrong drink orders and a complete refusal to serve tap-water, instead told I need to purchase bottled water. That’s a very unsafe practice, and newly implemented for MOGRA. Hilariously, the bartender upstairs poured water into my whiskey glass when asking for a water with my drink order. After suffering through the most generic sounding House music for 90 minutes, heading upstairs to retrieve my belongings from the locker resulted in the locker completely refusing to open with my key. After explaining the situation, we stood there for eternity as the employee literally dissembled the malfunctioning locker, feeling metaphorical as though he opened the lock that released us from this shell of a nightclub it once was. I’m now on the hunt for an actual chill & intimate Otaku nightclub in Akihabara, since MOGRA is absolutely not that any longer.

Music isnt really for dancing, it's a niche underground community for people who like otaku things. However the music did get more into EDM the later into the night. The owner is pretty cool too.
