It's a place where pure Western style from before the Great War "yokan" which was often repressed in Yasujiro Ozu's film. In fact, it's like you're stepping into a Showa period film.
If you like old, wooden building more than 100 years old and quiet atmosphere with solid western food, this is the place. A lunch couse will be close to 3000 yen, but worth it. Staffs are not stuck up but friendly and cordial.
This was a house of early western settler when Japan opened at the time of Meiji restoration. It is said the first beer garden in Japan was opened in the garden of this house. You can still enjoy beer or cold drinks in the garden on a hot sommer afternoos.
Attended a wedding banquet, the food was fabulous and gave me a memorable wedding lunch. Also, all staff are great. Highly recommended this place.
Yamate Jubankan.
It is a historic Western-style building full of exoticism and is the best place for walking around Minato Mirai, Foreign General Cemetery, and Yamate. (Thank you always) for your polite greetings. Today's soup is the meat with seasonal yam and Saikyo miso that melts in my mouth. The matcha mousse spread softly in my mouth and I had a wonderful day. I received a souvenir from my grandmother's favorite biscuits at Yamate Jubankan. Also, I will bother you. I'm looking forward to seasonal dishes.
