I visited the museum and the tumulus, but I couldn't visit the museum because of the replacement of exhibits. .. .. I regretted that I should have investigated it properly, but when I went through the museum and visited the tumulus, a very large tumulus appeared. The tension has risen. There was a guide to the explanation site from the QR code, but I just wanted a signboard. The Warring States period and the Kofun period, which has a sober impression compared to the end of the Edo period. If you make it even more exciting and make it a tourism industry, Fukuoka will be dotted with ancient burial mounds, and I think it will be even more interesting if you learn the connections. You can visit the museum for free.
Here, valuable materials excavated from the adjacent Iwatoyama tumulus and Yame tumulus group are exhibited, and there is a permanent exhibition room that focuses on the ancient Kyushu giant "Chikushi Kimiiwai". You can "know, interact, and experience" the history exchange station.
When you enter the permanent exhibition room, a large stone shield is displayed from the entrance.
The "Ishijin / Ishiba" exhibited in the center is a space that makes you feel as if you have traveled back in time 1500 years ago.
Most of the stone people and stone horses that color and protect the tumulus are important cultural properties.
While most of the burial mounds were lined with haniwa made of soil, the Tsukushi-kun clan did not dare to incorporate them, and lined up "Ishijin Ishiba" made of local stone. "Armed Ishijin" standing at the Ishijinyama Kofun in Hirokawa Town was the first Ishijin.
The main reason for arranging stone people and stone horses is that I wanted to express a position completely different from the Yamato kingship with haniwa and stone people, and to express independence from the kingship in a visible way.
Earthenware haniwa will break in about 10 years, but stone people and stone horses will not break in about 100 years because they are made of stone. It seems that the strength of the clan's feelings appears here as well.
After the Iwai Rebellion, the soldiers from Yamato smashed the stone people, either because of anger or because of fear. After that, the decorative murals will bloom quietly in the stone chamber inside the tumulus. An ancestor who did not stop having originality. It seems that the proud heart of the Iwai clan is transmitted.
Many of the stone people and stone horses, which are symbols of ancient Kyushu culture, are designated as important cultural properties, and there are facilities all over the country where you can see the dignified appearance of the local hero "Tsukushi Kimi Iwai". Only here at Iwatoyama History and Culture Exchange Center (Iwai no Sato).

I came to the Iwatoyama Tomb, which is one of the purposes of the trip, and the contents of the exhibition were excellent and I was very satisfied. Chikushi-kun Iwai, a local hero, doesn't understand why Emperor Keitai turned to battle. Although he was his biggest rival, his relationship with Silla will be reported later, but there are doubts. There is no doubt that he is a meritorious person who made history interesting.
In the exhibition, there was the Imashirozuka Kofun, where the Emperor Keitai sleeps, but the Imperial Household Agency has not yet acknowledged it, but he laughed. A pink stone sarcophagus member was discovered from the Imashirozuka burial mound and became a hot topic. Since the Ariake Sea coastal tribes were among the tribes who supported Iwai, I think that the successor gave a pink stone to make up after the battle ...
August 29 History course. A lecture by Professor Chuhei Takashima on the theme of what are the conditions of Yamatai country. He was involved in the excavation of the Yoshinogari ruins, and made a claim from Professor Takashima from the research of the excavated archaeological sites. It was a wonderful course.
You can enjoy the largest tumulus in northern Kyushu for free! ️
