This is the place where the Taikyokuden, the center of Nagaokakyo, used to be. It is now maintained as a park. The remains of the Taikyokuden, where the emperor took office, and the Koyasuden, which is the antechamber of the temple, are also shown on the ground. In addition, the part where the treasure was erected during the New Year and ceremonies has been restored. When I actually stand in the field, I feel that Taikyokuden was not a big building. However, although it is a short period of 10 years, there used to be a capital in this place, and since the emperor actually lived there, I feel that Japan had an era called the "Nagaoka era."

This is the place where the capital was located for 10 years before moving to Heiankyo. It is a small park with no restored buildings, even though it is the site of the Daigokuden. This area is dotted with several such Nagaokakyo ruins.

Because the excavation site of Daigokuden is a park, it is very wide. There is no play equipment, but it is too big to run around, and there are lots of greenery and it is comfortable to take a walk. Bring a seat and enjoy a mini picnic.
