Amazing fried steak. Well worth the lineup.
Please note that this branch is VERY SMALL, and a much bigger branch is very close by. Search "Gyukatsu" in Google Map to find it. Here's the review:
This franchise has become my favourite food of the trip, despite having had beef that costed 10 times more. The magic is in the sauces, truly. The beef is nothing to write home about, and the most expensive dish tastes very similar to the least expensive one (yes, I have been eating here almost daily...what am I doing with my trip to Kyoto, sigh), but the sauces and toppings are so darn delicious! Tip: for hungry people, there's an option to refill the beef for 600 to 800 Yen, and the rice, soup and tea are free to refill; you know what to do ;)
I admit that we didn’t do any research of Kyoto, we just passed by and saw many people lining up here. I wasn’t even know it’s actually fried steak not fried pork. We lined up for about 20 minutes. However, it was worthy of standing in chilly wind for this meal. Absolutely amazing! Beautiful rare inside, crunch skin outside with no oily smell. The steak goes perfect with their special sauce. Love the salad gave it a refreshing taste.
Warm welcome from the staffs, beautiful dinner in Kyoto. Definitely recommend!
Simple delicious food by a smiley crew of staff. Downside to it was that there was no grilling involved.
Might be down with an impression the gyukatsu we ate in Tokyo had the grill and the ones in Kyoto did not. I might be wrong.
The service made up for it though.
Delicious food and great service. We were waiting outside in the rain and the waiters lent us an umbrella.
