Kontaiji Temple 金胎寺 Upon your visit to Wazuka-cho you may want to go off into a mountainous area around Mt. Jobuzan. Around the top part of this mountain was once developed as a sacred ground to appease the spirits of deceased in the late 7th century. This is one of popular hiking course of Tokai Natural Walking Paths. The temple belongs to Shingon sect of Buddhism. There are very important cultural assets of Tahoto Pagoda and Hokyointo Pagoda made of stone in its precincts. You can drop coins into an offering box around the counter to get admission. It is a mountain temple located in the very deep mountains of Wazuka Town. This time, I went back without worshiping due to time constraints. The scenery of the tea plantation on the way is beautiful and I went by motorcycle, but the paved forest road leading to Kontaiji is a forest road, so the road width is narrow and the road surface is quite rough. It's not a place where you can easily go. It may be beneficial only for that

A temple on the way to the upper Tahoto. The history seems to be old, but the temple seems to have been rebuilt. There is a free rest area for climbers. The entrance fee is 300 yen.

It was a quiet, green and relaxing place. I lived in Kyoto, but I didn't know the existence here.
