“Meirin Elementary School” enshrines the flow of the long-established school, Meirinkan. Now that it has finished its role as a school building and has undergone renovation work, it has been reborn as a historical museum as a new tourist spot in Sakai City. The style and appearance of a good old wooden building remain, so I definitely recommend visiting. There are restaurants and souvenir shops in the building, where you can enjoy dining and shopping unique to this place. I traveled around all prefectures, but it is rare that such a fine school building remains, and it is a very valuable cultural property. I can feel proud as my old school and graduate.

When I visited 6 years ago, it was a lonely atmosphere as a gallan right after I moved to the new school building. I was relieved to see the posted photos and see that they are being used effectively. In word of mouth, there are some who disagree with the huge cost of preserving the wooden school building, but nowadays, there are almost no existing wooden school buildings before the war (Meirinkan was completed in 1945). Isn't it? Even in the prefecture, I only know the former Takibe Elementary School in Hohoku-cho, Shimonoseki City (completed in the Taisho era). It will be a historic building 100 years later. We believe that the administrative authorities, who are the managers, are also considering various measures in order to raise maintenance costs in the future. I would like to visit you soon!

The main building can be viewed free of charge. The picture-story show was good and I enjoyed talking very well.

Just looking at it from the train window, you can save money and use the building that celebrates history and tradition, but be proud of the spirit of this area!

It is very nicely renovated, but the atmosphere of the old school is still very nice.
