One of my best museum experiences in Japan. Of course it doesn't truely represent the Jomon people or address their genocide. Also glances over or never mentions history they'd rather forget. Still, great information on a lot of things, even if half the story or out of context.

They presented the Japanese cultur and history in an awesome way.. after you enter, you will feel the life in that era .

This is one of the better natural history museums. You really get a feel for what it was like to live in the area 100 years ago, or 7000 years ago. The star of the show is the Jomon fire pottery, but they have foot impressions made of their kids, like prehistoric baby photos. Also don't miss the tooth modifications. That stuff can't be undone, and it lasts 3000 years (of your teeth do, which they did in this case). To me the fire pottery looks more like water but it's just a decoration.

It was a lot of fun! 20th anniversary of the opening of the Niigata History Museum! Since the history museum was built There is a house in the house! It's been 20 years since I heard that I wanted to go, but I couldn't go there ... but this time I got a chance! Various matches as a special exhibition (Friends' Association), newspapers at the time of the state funeral of Mr. Isoroku Yamamoto, Commander-in-Chief of the Allied Fleet, etc. In addition, there were various things that I enjoyed, there were various permanent areas, and I had a meaningful time. Unfortunately, I couldn't enter the Jomon area because it was closed during the viewing, so I would like to go again soon 🤗 Everyone in Nagaoka Why don't you touch the history? 😎
