War Memorial of Korea

One of the must see places! Easy to get to using the subway. Kids will love all of the military equipment (Armored vehicles, planes, ships etc., ) memorial has english speakers for those who needs them.

Humbling experience, I suggest planning at least half a day to fully experience the site.

One of the most impressive displays I have ever seen. It's one of the only where I have seen a timeline that shows Korea's history with Western and Chinese timelines. You really understand how developed the society was at the time!

It is temporarily closed nowadays due to Coronavirus; however, you can still walk outside the premises, enjoying the statues, real planes and tanks and ships displayed, feeding the fish in the pond.

The War Memorial of Korea is located in Yonsang-Dong, Yonsang-gu, Seoul, South Korea. It opened in 1994 on the former site of the army headquarters to exhibit and memorialize the military history of Korea. It was built for the purpose of preventing war through lessons from the Korean war and for the hoped for peaceful reunification of North and South Korea. The memorial building has six indoor exhibition rooms and an outdoor exhibition centre displaying war memorabilia and military equipment from China, South Korea and the United States.
