The House Hostel

Facilities and whole place is very nice! Bathrooms are great functioning well rooms. The only negative was the breakfast, just bread and American cheese. But the hostess SOOOO nice

Very friendly staff, quiet place close to the center. It is a good option if you plan on visiting Seoraksan as you can hop onto the bus easily. There is a bus stop 2 minutes from the hotel.

The place has a nice decoration and a big terrace outside to chill. The location is great, close to bus station and the local market, where you will find most of the restaurants. The owner is very friendly and pleasant. It's a GS25 just in the corner (~30''). I think he has a laundry service but not completely sure about it. There is WiFi, water dispenser and breakfast is included in the price.

I've been here 5 times since 2011. And I have sent maybe hundreds of traveler from my country to Sokcho, and every time they ask where should they stay, I always recommend The House Hostel. And none of them, me myself included, had ever felt any sort of regret staying in this lovely hostel, and always leave happy and delighted. Enough said? Well, let me explain... First of all, I LOVE THIS PLACE! And somehow, each and every time I had to check-out of this hostel, I always feel like something is taken away from me. Each and every time I walked out of this hostel, I felt I will be missing this place, A LOT. And it happens! Each and every day of my life, since I departed from Sokcho, I've been missing this place. If I have to choose, traveling to Korea without going to Sokcho and staying in The House Hostel, I'd rather not going at all. After all these trips, Sokcho and The House Hostel always have a very special place in my heart. The location is great, 5 minutes from bus terminal. 30 seconds away from GS25 and many other convenience store. 60 seconds away from city bus stop. Easy access to any tourist destination you can think of in Sokcho. The ambience is beyond perfect. The moment you step inside the doors, you'd be hooked for life. It feels like home. It's not just another lodging, another hostel, it will be your second home. The fragrance, the music, the homey ambience, the kitchen, the rooms, everything. The facilities is great! The room is squeaky clean and spacious, the bathroom is spotless, the bed is comfy, the alley is always warm and welcoming, and the amenities they provide for you is always complete. Had I mention the owner? Mr. Yoo, the owner, would be the kindest person you can find in the city. He is friendly, welcoming, helping, cooperative, and understanding. He would welcome and help you the best he could, no matter what your needs would be. Just read the wall of fame, the comments on the wall about his kindness, right beside the entrance, you'd be surprised how kind he is. Last but not least, the price is heavenly! For what you get, the price in The House Hostel is amazing. It won't require you to sell one of your kidneys, or drain out your bank account, it is very affordable, judging from the value that you get.
