This hospital seemed like an oasis of medical help when I first arrived. As a foreigner with super basic Korean speaking skills who was terrified after a few days of flu-like symptoms that just seemed to be getting worse after almost a week, it was a gift from heaven to know I could actually speak English to medical staff and not worry about any misunderstandings or misdiagnosis. I was directed to the international clinic by the security officer and it was amazing. Clean and quiet and everyone spoke fluent english. Then I met nurse Chris, and everything took a turn for the worse. When I made the mistake of giving him my insurance card showing I am here on a work visa, he redirected me out to the nationals' area despite my explaining that I knew about 3 words in Korean, and despite 2 other staff members bringing me back to the international clinic to tell him the same thing and that I should be assisted in the English speaking clinic (duh) but he was having none of it so I ended up in a part of the hospital where no one could communicate with me and everyone was frustrated and annoyed, making this one of the worst hospital visits of my life. I understand rule-following but advocate for compassion and common sense to trump any rules that only make life harder for everyone (except Nurse Chris). If you are in Daegu, living and working legally but unable to speak the language because you've only arrived a few months prior, do yourself a favor and just avoid this place altogether or pay in cash and go through the English speaking clinic. It blows my mind that a tourist here for a week would get better medical attention than myself who is here legally and a working resource for the country's future. 6 thumbs down!!!!!! Two stars is for the poor Korean speaking staff that worked hard at trying to assist me after coming up against Mr Rules Are Rules.
Some love this place, Some don’t. I would stay far far away if I were you. If you are an English speaker look at the reviews below and determine for yourself if they are value added in your decision making process or if mine is. People are friendly at the international reception but clueless on how to manage patient care. Here goes. My left foot hurts, burning sensation on medial side all the time and plantar pain in the morning. 2 years mind you. I walk and hike a lot. Finally wanted to seek pain relief. Called this place and asked if they have podiatrist. Nope. Only have orthopedic surgeon. Ok. No problem. Received well.. saw doctor. He told me I needed custom shoe insert. I asked if I need prescription. Doctor and international clinic guy said no. Then the fun began. I asked if they have a place in the hospital that can do this. No. Then I ask international clinic guy where do I go. He said any medical appliance shop. I asked if there was one nearby. He said I don’t know. He pointed in the direction that one may exist and I walked 3 blocks. Nothing. I called my co-worker to find a place. She called and they said I need a prescription!! What TF! I walked all the way back to this place and told them I needed a prescription and they told me to wait. I sat there for 30 minutes and asked what is going on. They then told me the orthopedic MD cannot write prescription. Another doctor who isn’t there has to. I asked what kind of doctor is that - they said rehab doctor but then not sure if he could write a prescription. I was like this is freakin crazy. They are so backwards it’s scary. Stay away... really. If they can’t even figure out how to do this do you want them treating you for something serious!!!!!
good
Good Hospital
It's a little complicated because it's a high-end general hospital.
