Helpful and friendly staff, although we could not find them at first. They did speak good English. The museum is more of an exhibition since there is no information about the locks at all. Some of the locks have a plate with the name of the lock, but nothing detailing where the lock came from, how it worked or when it was fabricated. The museum is not expensive, but it still feels like something that should be a free gallery.

Lots of amazing-looking locks of all shapes and sizes! Nice unique museum experience :)

It was a nice exhibition but there is too little information and context written down about the locks. You would like to now from which time period the locks are and possibly how they work. In the current state a guide would be necessary to provide the information and context about the locks.

Calm and mellow place, good virility of warded locks from different places

On November 5, 2003, Choi Hong-kyu, who had been operating a hardware store for more than 20 years, opened. It was founded to collect, preserve, and study the disappearing old Korean locks, and to showcase the beauty and scientific excellence of locks through exhibition activities. About 300 of the 3,000 locks owned by Choi Hong-kyu in Korea and around the world are on display. A chord is a dialect of a key. On the 4th floor of a 4 storey building, there is a 230 square meter museum and consists of three exhibition halls and an event hall. The first exhibition room displays various locks by period and type. The locks used in the Joseon Dynasty include about 40 type locks, round cylindrical locks, embedded locks, fish locks, dragon locks, turtle locks There are three points: Koryo era lock, 1 unified Silla era lock, 11 latches, 8 key pads, and 7 large locks. The second exhibition room exhibits 15 locks used in wooden furniture of Joseon Dynasty, such as ships, arks, seals, seals, and blindfolds. The third exhibition room exhibits locks from around the world, including Africa, Europe, Tibet, the Middle East, India, and China. In the fall of 2004, a special planning exhibition was held. The iron facade with its unique appearance covered with rusty iron plate is the work of architect Seung Hyo Sang, and the building plans and models are housed in the National Museum of Contemporary Art. On the third floor, there is a gallery daedae where various cultural events such as art exhibitions, cultural performances and events are held.
