Free museum and very good as in most museums in Seoul. Small but informative and interesting. Makes you understand the history of the city better. From here you can walk up the hill along the wall to get a good view of Seoul. The city wall of Seoul is not well publicized so the museum is usually empty despite being free. I must say they did a good job showcasing the history of the wall. Koreans should be proud of their fantastic museums.
Very informative museum that caters to several languages so many people can enjoy the history of the wall. Displays of tools, pictures, documents and more! No cost, so a fun thing to do if it's raining or extra cold outside.
Interesting history about the wall!!
There's a short cut to shave off 500m off the initial steep climb. Go towards the Seoul City Gate Museum. Visit this museum first. It serves as a great introduction before the ascent. You will appreciate the walls, the history and the hard labor that went into it's construction. There's a back exit from this museum which leads directly to the wall at the back. Upon exit, you will find that the walkway is very manageable as the steep climb had been bypassed. Continue up the slope and you will find a serene environment away from the busy street activities down below. There's a exercise area and a pavilion if you need a rest. Be aware there's no restroom. The restrooms at the museum are the only ones. Bring a bottle of water. Easy hike.
Nice place to visit, but would be btter to have a souvenir shop,
This place is a little out of the way depending where you are. Located in Dongdaemun. I was looking for something else and came across it. Parts of Seoul Fortress Wall. The wall of Seoul. At the top there's the museum, Seoul City Wall Museum that goes through the history of the wall and the 8 gates. One of the gates is at the bottom of this hill. It's free admission and air conditioned. Idk about anyone else but I always love seeing old books that survived time. It fascinates me. There's old records on display in protective cases of course.
