good location, next to express bus and intercity bus station. nice bathroom with big jet tub. spacious enough for family of 4 . 2adults , 1 teens and a 8 years old.
Very beautiful
So I couldn't find a legit hotel in Gyeongju that wasn't booked up, and I wanted to stay within the city center. I was dubious about staying at Time Motel because, let's be honest, look at the room pictures - perversion comes to mind.
I booked 3 nights in Sept of 2018. The check-in experience was uncomfortable. I don't speak Korean so my usual strategy is to approach the hotel receptionist with a big smile and say "check-in" while offering my passport. That didn't quite work here because the receptionist was behind a wall, and there is only a small window to conduct exchanges so the tenant can stay anonymous. I nonetheless slid my passport through and said "check-in". I saw the receptionist thumb through my passport, slide it back to me, and say something in Korean. Denied.
At this point I thought it best to reveal myself, so I squatted down and peeked through the window to show my beautiful foreigner face and say "hi" to the old man receptionist. He looked quite shocked to see me, and picked up the phone to call someone ("the police?" I thought). He called a translator and passed the phone to me. The translator asked what I was doing there, and I told her I was trying to check-in. I passed the phone back and she relayed the message to the man, who then motioned for my passport.
He exchanged a few words with the translator and passed the phone back to me. She asked "are you the Kevin on the passport?" to which I responded yes, and passed the phone back. He hung up, and slid my passport back with a room key and said nothing. Awkward.
My room was hilarious. Imagine a 12 year old girl who is really into pink, anime, poetry, and sex, and that basically describes it. With that said, I was legitimately surprised by the quality of the room, the amenities provided, and the price.
Room amenities included several larger-than-life anime girls painted in the walls, a water kettle, AC, dehumidifier, toothbrush + paste, a big screen TV, a PC computer (Korean Windows though), heated toilet seat + bidet, shower, a mini fridge stocked everyday with 2 bottles of water and 2 cans of juice, and a deep massaging bathtub with colorful LED lights. Oh, and also the mattress had a massage option and a thrusting option.
On the first and 3rd floor were microwaves and water dispensers, and on the first floor is a popcorn machine I never saw being used. In the elevator are signs describing how to access free movies on your TV, which I did not indulge in.
The mattress was very firm, which I liked. I had some problems with my AC making loud click noises which would wake me up. I also had a few issues with sound coming from the hallway and in nearby rooms. I could detect free WiFi for nearby rooms, but I couldn't figure out if my room had free WiFi or not. I couldn't see a signal on my phone, so perhaps there was a special way to turn it on which eluded me.
Overall it was an interesting experience. Nothing seemed particularly dirty besides usual wear and tear. I would recommend staying in Time Motel. You can't go wrong as their motto is "Fun time & hot time".
Big room with super hard mattress and nice shower and bathtub BUT the worst was the poor attention from staff. Would not recommend.
I used a family room which is somewhat computer-specific. The price was 60,000 won. But the place where I stayed was a very bad smell of cigarettes, so I tried to ventilate the screens, so I couldn't think the insects would come in because they were torn. Honestly, if the price doesn't match, it's not a real one. Fortress is a decent place. Oh, and frankly, motels aren't usually bright, but it's really dark here.
